Taking an innovative look at traditional products has opened additional marketing opportunities and gained awards for Viscount Plastics.
The company has designed and manufactured the world's first one-piece, completely clear injection-moulded cartridge for the DIY building products market.
The one-piece PET cartridge is less costly than the product it replaces and the clear, glassy look supports the product positioning of Viscount's customer, Selleys, with its All Clear range of sealants.
The cartridge won the 2004 Packaging Council of Australia's Gold Award for Plastic Packaging.
A ten-litre plastic pail with lid designed for the food industry has won Silver and Bronze awards in the same competition. The pail is square, which enhances distribution and storage properties, while its unique Flip-Lok lid is designed with a tamper-evident seal that makes the product ideal for the food industry. The lid is hinged giving greater hygiene protection as it cannot be dropped, misplaced or used on another container whilst also providing a handy reusable container
The Silver Award was in the Plastic Packaging category and the Bronze was for ecologically sustainable packaging.
The Managing Director of Viscount, Mr Mike Dwyer, said that the company had been working on these and other products for many years.
'Through good design, we can compete with the rest of the world and also separate ourselves from low-cost commodity manufacturers.'
Viscount`s Australasian General Manager Shane Moloughney said 'Customers constantly require better packaging to meet the increasing standards in hygiene and environmental management. They also want attractive packaging that helps them compete in the marketplace. Creativity and high quality manufacturing will help them achieve these goals,'
